Live Music by Virtuosi Productions

Musician Jo Ann Simpson formed Virtuosi Productions: The Music Makers in response to the need for a coordinated marketing of live music for special events in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.

It all started in 1989 with three young women promoting Trio Arioso, in which Jo Ann played the bassoon, to the wedding market. As calls came in asking for a flute, violin, cello or harp (because apparently not everyone was dreaming of an oboe, clarinet or bassoon for their wedding), Jo Ann responded by networking with the professional freelance music community to create the ensembles and develop the music library for the wedding/special event market. The diverse ensembles offered today by Virtuosi Productions evolved over a period of about 3 to 5 years, largely in response to public demand.

Recognized for Providing Concert-Quality Music

It didn’t take long before Virtuosi Productions was recognized for concert-quality event music, thanks to our working with only the finest professional musicians. As a result, Jo Ann Simpson and Virtuosi Productions were putting together small orchestras for the State dinners hosted by the Prime Minister of Canada. Virtuosi Productions has also provided the back-up orchestras for other famous Canadians, such as Anne Murray, Holly Cole, Colin James, Leahy, and Diana Krall.
